3.Talking about Yourself

Common as they are, especially amongst lonely people, openers about yourself rarely stimulate conversations. Strangers are far more interested in talking about themselves than in talking about you. Never volunteer information about yourself unless you are asked a specific question. Unless someone asks a question about your family, profession, interests or possessions, they are not interested. A: What’s your name? B: Greg Smith. A: And where do you work? B: London University. A: Oh, and what do you do? B: I’m a professor of chemistry.
